How to find your VIN

A GMC or Chevy VIN is always 17 characters. Find it in any of these places:
- Driver's side dashboard, visible through the lower-left corner of the windshield from outside
- Driver's side door jamb sticker
- Vehicle title, registration, or insurance documents
How to Get a Chevy Window Sticker by VIN
- Locate your 17-digit VIN using one of the locations above
- Enter your VIN into the Chevy Window Sticker lookup tool at the top of this page
- View or download the original factory label as a PDF
You can also pull the PDF directly from GM's servers by appending your VIN to this URL:

What's on A Chevy Window Sticker (Monroney Label)

A Chevy Window Sticker or Monroney label reflects the vehicle's exact factory configuration. On a Chevy or GMC, it covers:
- Base MSRP for the trim level as configured at the factory
- Factory-installed options and packages, each with individual pricing — the most reliable way to confirm what was actually installed versus added by the dealer
- Engine, transmission, and drivetrain specs
- EPA fuel economy ratings for that exact powertrain
- Standard safety equipment and crash test disclosures
- Total MSRP — base price plus options; destination charges are listed separately

GM's truck and SUV lines are heavily trim-dependent — a Silverado 1500 Work Truck and a High Country can share the same cab, bed, and engine but differ by $30,000 or more in factory content. Pulling the sticker is the fastest way to independently verify what a vehicle was actually built with, which is especially useful when the seller's description and the asking price don't quite line up.
Chevy Window sticker vs. build sheet
The window sticker is the customer-facing Monroney label — it shows pricing, packages, and EPA ratings in a standardized format. A build sheet is a factory production record with internal option codes and production details that don't appear on the sticker.
For most buying, selling, and documentation purposes the sticker is sufficient. For deeper factory data, you can retrieve the full build sheet using GM's equipment listing or dealership tools.
Supported models and years
Most Chevrolet and GMC vehicles from 2012 to present are supported, depending on database availability:
- Chevrolet: Silverado, Tahoe, Malibu, Equinox, Traverse, Corvette, Camaro, Colorado
- GMC: Sierra, Yukon, Terrain, Acadia, Canyon

Troubleshooting
No result returned. Check for VIN typos first — a single wrong character pulls the wrong record or nothing at all. Zeros vs. the letter O and ones vs. I are the most common errors.
Vehicle too new. GM typically publishes sticker data within a few weeks of production. If the vehicle was recently built, try again in a week or two.
Pre-2012 vehicles. Digital sticker records generally aren't available for Chevy and GMC vehicles built before 2012.
Database temporarily unavailable. GM's servers occasionally experience delays. If the lookup fails and the VIN is correct, try again later. For persistent failures, see the guide on common reasons a VIN lookup fails.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work for GMC vehicles too?
Yes. Chevrolet and GMC are both General Motors brands and share the same production database. Most GMC models from 2012 onward are supported alongside their Chevy counterparts.
Can I use this to verify a used vehicle before buying?
Yes, and it's one of the most useful pre-purchase checks you can do. The sticker independently confirms the factory trim, packages, and powertrain — so you can cross-check what the seller claims against what GM actually built. On higher-trim trucks and SUVs especially, misrepresented options are common.
The sticker MSRP is higher than what I paid. Is that normal?
Yes. The sticker shows the original factory MSRP before dealer discounts, manufacturer incentives, and trade-in credits. The final transaction price is almost always lower, sometimes significantly so.
Will dealer-installed accessories show on the sticker?
No. The sticker only reflects what GM installed at the factory. Anything added by the dealer after delivery — floor mats, running boards, tint, protective packages — won't appear even if it's listed on the sales contract.
Is the Chevy Window Sticker lookup tool free?
Yes, completely free with no account or personal information required.
