Error cannot delete file: cannot read from source file or disk

Common Error Messages:

  • Cannot delete file: Access is denied
  • There has been a sharing violation
  • The source or destination file may be in use
  • The file is in use by another program or user
  • Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use

How to Fix the Error:

  1. Download and install Unlocker
  2. Right click the folder or file you wish to delete and select unlocker
  3. Use unlocker to delete the file or folder

  4. Select the option to delete and click ok
  5. Delete the file or folder
